The MVP/Top Gun Tourney will be held this Saturday 3-13...and next 3-20 for those who can't make it this weekend. One winner from each date will go to Vegas from these tournaments.

This Saturday's Tourney will be held at Lee St. Billiards, located at 1122 Lee St. in Des Plaines. Doors open at 10, and play will start at 11. All trophies from the summer and fall winners will be on site...please come pick yours up.

Next Saturday's tourney will be held at Idol's sports bar. They are located at Rand and Dundee in Palatine. Doors open at 10, and play will start at 11. I will also bring all remaining trophies to this tournament.

There is a $10 buy in for each tourney, and you can only play in both if you have won MVP/Top Gun honors in both sessions this year. No one can win more than one MVP "trip" per year.

Weekly stuff...There are still a lot of unpaid memberships on the books. I have to get them resolved one way or another, or the APA in St. Louis will charge me $25 PLUS a $5 audit fee. For that reason, I've deleted some players on some teams who were not paid. If you get your sheets, and are missing players, don't worry. You can still re-add them...IF THEY PAY. Otherwise, leave them off the sheet until paid.

Patches and Pins...If you earn an individual award (Patch or pin), you need to write your name on the back flap of the cash envelope and pay for it. If you do both, you get the patch or pin, AND are entered in a drawing at the end of the year for trips to Vegas. ALL money from the patch and pin fund goes toward these trips. Last year, we collected almost $4000 in patch and pin money...8 players won trips to Vegas. But it is important for you to write your name legibly on the back flap for EACH award you win. If you run out of space, I'll give you a new envelope. That goes for CLEAN SWEEP patches as well. If you just write down 5 clean sweep patches on one line...you only get one chance in the drawing, and would have to decide who gets the trip if that ticket won. Pleas put ALL 5 NAMES on the envelope.

Brad, in the future, can we get more advanced notice than 2 days for this? It'd also be helpful to get an e-mail or a note in our team packets, since the website isn't updated every day, I know most people don't regularly check it.

David,

You are absolutely right about the notice. I did what I could this time. The tourney kept being pushed back because of weekend events, or lack of notice. I finally bit the bullet, posted both dates a week before the first tourney, and tried to call as many MVPs as I could in between running the weekly scoresheets.

BTW...There actually was a notice on the scoresheets week 9 about the second tourney.

Having said that, there will be more notice for future tourneys. I'm trying to get a whole year's schedule set for next year. We will see how that works.

There is also a text messaging system that will be coming on line in the next few weeks that should give me the ability to target text whole groups of players more easily than I can from my phone...or email currently.

Finally, please check the calendar in the first week or two of July. That is when the final MVP tourney will be held for the 2009-2010 season. ANY MVP from ANY session...except the two winners...will be invited to this tournament.

Look forward to seeing you at the next tourney in July.
